The year 2025 was marked by profound Dharma activities throughout the Mindrolling lineage. Across India, North America, Europe, and the wider international sangha, practitioners gathered in person and online to receive teachings, engage in the accomplishment practices, and deepen their commitment to the Dharma. As a sangha we joyfully look back on the major events, practices, and milestones shared by the Mindrolling International members throughout the year.
Early 2025
At Mindrolling Monastery, Samten Tse Retreat Centre, Mindrolling Lotus Garden, and in Mindrolling International study groups around the world, the year opened with practitioners reciting prayers of auspiciousness, supplications to the Three Jewels, and sincere aspirations for the flourishing of Dharma and gathering of all good circumstances for the year of the Wood Snake.
On the third day of the Tibetan Lunar New Year, March 2nd, 2025, the sangha at Mindrolling performed the Rigdzin Thugthig Tshog (the feast of the Heart Essence of the Vidyadharas) to mark the parinirvana of the 11th Mindrolling Trichen.
Furthermore, on the 8th of March, the annual seven‑day drubchen of Thugje Chenpo began at Mindrolling Monastery commemorating of the parinirvana of the Eleventh Mindrolling Trichen. Led by Minling Dungse Rinpoche and attended by Rinpoches, Khenpos, monks, nuns, and lay practitioners, this intensive practice was dedicated to the flourishing of the Mindrolling lineage and the benefit of all beings. The collective vast aspirations and devoted practice of the assembly was an auspicious beginning to the year.
Mid-Year — International Gatherings and Teachings – Vajra Assembly 2025 Europe
In July, Mindrolling International sangha members from across Europe and beyond gathered for the annual Vajra Assembly in the Czech Republic. Mindrolling International staff members and numerous sangha members arrived early to prepare and set up the mandala for those students coming to receive the profound teachings and transmissions. Through this month-ling retreat, Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche bestowed profound and vast teachings and transmissions of this ongoing cycle of Pith Instructions, and students wholeheartedly engaged in the practices. Practitioners from the many different countries were all able to receive the direct teachings through the diligence and effort of the skilled team of translators who simultaneously translated all of the teachings and practice sessions into six different languages. Through ongoing retreat, practice, and study, the Vajra Assembly members have remained diligent on the path of Dharma with joy and sincere aspirations that their accomplishment of Dharma may benefit limitless sentient beings.
Summer and Early Autumn — Lotus Garden Temple Consecration and Retreat
Practice Intensive
In 2025, Mindrolling Lotus Garden (Mindrolling Pema Gatsal) in Virginia, continued to mature and grow as the seat of Mindrolling International in the West. This year was particularly notable for the opening and consecration of the new temple, Mindrol Gatsal.
Throughout the year Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche, Jetsünla, Mindrolling monks, nuns of Samten Tse, and Mindrolling International sangha members tirelessly prepared the temple and gathered all of the necessary sacred representations, ritual items, and pure offerings for the coming consecration ritual, or rabne in Tibetan.
In July, the traditional ritual for opening the eyes of the sacred representations were performed, marking a critical step in preparing for the rabne, or consecration, of the temple as a living support for practice.
On July 28th, the sangha joyfully marked the birthday of the Minling Dungse Rinpoche. Extensive prayers and offerings were made dedicated to Dungse Rinpoche’s long life and vast Dharma activities. The gathered sangha all enjoyed a wonderful day of celebration.
From August through September, practitioners from around the world gathered for an extended period of teachings, practice, and celebration.
During this time, the annual Practice Intensive Retreat took place over thirteen days. Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche bestowed empowerment, teachings, and pith instructions to fortunate students. Through the teachings and vast skillful means bestowed by Rinpoche, the retreatants strove to deepen their experiential understanding of the Dharma within the sacred mandala of Dharma practice.
On August 19th, the birthday of Kyabje Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche was celebrated with a vast offering of mandala and body, speech, and mind. With heartfelt devotion the sangha was filled with joy as they gathered for Rinpoche’s birthday in the newly consecrated temple.
Mindrol Gatsal Rabne
Consecration rites (rabne), including the transfer of sacred contents (pochok), were conducted under the guidance of Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche and Minling Jetsun Dechen Paldon. The consecration culminated with the three-day rabne ritual led by Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche.
Minling Pema Gatsal was further blessed by His Eminence Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche who presided over the final day of the rabne. Through the blessings of these great masters and the profound skillful means of the extensive rabne ritual, Mindrol Gatsal was formally established as a sacred support for the ripening and liberation of beings for generations to come.
His Eminence Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche – Dzöd Dün
After the completion of the rabne, His Eminence Kongtrul Rinpoche continued bestowing the profound transmissions of the Dzöd Dün (Seven Transmissions) of the Omniscient Longchenpa.
Late 2025 – Kama Transmissions at Mindrolling Monastery
The latter part of the year was defined by the bestowal of the Nyingma Kama transmissions at Mindrolling Monastery by Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche. These extensive and rare transmissions drew large numbers of practitioners in person, while livestream offerings enabled global participation. Regular updates and images documented the unfolding of these teachings, reflecting the vitality of the lineage and the dedication of the sangha. See the full report and photos of the Kama transmissions here:
During the Kama transmission, in December, the sangha joyfully observed the birthday of Minling Jetsün Rinpoche, offering prayers, mandalas, and aspirations for the long life and continued activity of the 13th generation of the Mindrolling lineage. Jetsun Rinpoche, along with her brother Dungse Rinpoche, continue to inspire and bring great hope for the preservation of the authentic dharma for generations to come.
