Introduction
Since its founding, Mindrolling has been renowned as a center where the complete teachings of the Buddhadharma are upheld with the utmost authenticity and purity in an unbroken lineage of transmission. Mindrolling Monastery has been the main seat dedicated to ensuring the continuity of the profound Kama and Terma transmissions and to safeguarding the pure stream of the precious Dharma.
The Kama Transmissions, or Oral Lineage of Transmissions, are the treasury of teachings and practices of the Nyingma school passed down from the time of the Buddha in an unbroken chain from master to disciple. Preserved with the utmost care at Mindrolling, the Kama contains the profound transmissions which are the very life-force of the Dharma. These transmissions are exceedingly rare to encounter, and their continuity ensures that Buddhadharma remains pure, continuous, and free of any degradation.
In this auspicious Diamond Jubilee year, marking sixty years since the founding of Mindrolling Monastery in India, the precious Kama transmissions, the very lifeblood of the Nyingma lineage, were bestowed at Mindrolling Monastery by Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche to a vast gathering of rinpoches, tulkus, khenpos, monks, nuns, and lay practitioners.
Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche

Recognized by the 16th Karmapa as the reincarnation of the 6th Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, and being the heart son of Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Kyabje Rabjam Rinpoche is a living treasury of transmissions endowed with complete purity of samaya and an unbroken lineage. One can only rejoice in the extraordinary merit of these times where the opportunity to receive transmissions from such a master is still possible.
Organization
The leadership of Mindrolling Monastery has always been held by the descendants of its founder, Chögyal Terdag Lingpa, who have ensured that the teachings, empowerments, and accomplishments have been passed purely and completely from generation to generation.
These Nyingma Kama transmissions have been requested, organized, and supported completely by Kyabje Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche, the 12th generation of the Mindrolling Lineage, and Mindrolling Monastery.
Preparations
The vast vision and close attention to detail of Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche extended over the manifold preparations to create a pure container for the sacred transmissions, supported by the dedicated team of coordinators and hundreds of staff members. These preparations were guided and overseen by Tulku Dagpa Rinpoche, Tulku Marpa Rinpoche, the team of senior khenpos, and the Mindrolling admin team.

Central to this undertaking were months of dedicated scholarly studies by accomplished masters who undertook the responsibility of reviewing the contents of the entire Kama, preparing volumes of texts, tsaglis, and all the necessary mandala implements for the empowerments.
The monastery premises went through extensive renovations and preparations to host the transmissions. The Great World Peace Stupa was renovated, and a tent to cover the thousands of gathered practitioners was erected. To host the thousands of dharma practitioners, the monastery rooms were made available for the incoming guests, any larger spaces were turned into dormitories; and the young monk’s school and sports hall were repurposed to serve as dining venues. With gentle ease and adaptability, the monks worked to transform every corner of the monastery to fulfill the needs of this extraordinary event and provide a warm, comfortable welcome to all the attendees.
Arrivals
As the commencement day approached, the 13th generation of Mindrolling lineage holders, Minling Dungse Rinpoche and Minling Jetsün Rinpoche would be joined by the visiting Tulshig Yangsi Rinpoches, Thinley Norbu Yangsi Rinpoche, and Thukse Rinpoche. Thus, with the arrivals of the many rinpoches, tulkus, and lineage holders, the extraordinary gathering was enriched by the presence of the next generation of great masters.
On November 28th, Mindrolling Monastery was blessed with the arrival of Kyabje Sechen Rabjam Rinpoche who was welcomed by all the great masters, rinpoches, yangsis, tulkus, khenpos, monks, nuns, ngakpas, and a vast gathering of devoted practitioners. As the multicolored cloth banner hung proclaiming the highest honor of Kyabje Rinpoche’s arrival, the gong, gyaling, and dungchen resounded, and the formal welcoming procession for Kyabje Rabjam Rinpoche entered the monastery grounds.
It was a glorious day filled with joy arising from the newly formed gathering as the thousands of freshly arrived dharma practitioners began to register, find their way, and settle in their new accommodations.
Mandala offering and commencement
On November 30th, the Kama Transmissions began with an offering of mandala and body, speech and mind to Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche. This was followed by Rinpoche’s bestowal of the Refuge vows, Bodhisattva vows, and Lay vows to the gathered assembly along with what would be the first of multiple wang, or empowerments, which began with the Medicine Buddha empowerment.
Transmissions Day by Day
For forty consecutive days, the complete Kama Transmissions unfolded as a living stream of blessings bestowed by Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche with immeasurable kindness and compassion.
Each day began early, as Kyabje Rinpoche performed the preparatory practices setting the ground for the transmissions of the day.
The Kama comprises a vast collection of texts and practices. Therefore, every day the shrine, with its various tormas and elaborate offerings, had to be dismantled and carefully prepared anew for the following day. From early morning until late evening, the chöpön and torma teams worked tirelessly to ensure that the shrine and manifold empowerment articles provided the proper support in accordance with the pure and authentic lineage.
At the sound of the gong each morning, the assembly gathered in the shrine room and transmission tent and, led by the Mindrolling umdze, recited the prayers in unison while awaiting the arrival of Kyabje Rinpoche.
In front of the Great Stupa, the hosting masters from Mindrolling Monastery would, with deep respect, await and welcome Rabjam Rinpoche, day after day.
The mornings were devoted to tagon, the preparatory rituals, and to wang, the empowerments, during which Rabjam Rinpoche, with great care, patiently proceeded through each stage of every sacred activity, ensuring the completeness of the transmissions being bestowed.
Towards the afternoon, the days would continue with the lung, or oral transmission. Through steady, melodious recitation, without omission of a single syllable, the Nyingma Kama, encompassing the ancient texts of both Sutra and Tantra, was transmitted, connecting all gathered attendees to the unbroken hearing lineage, reaching back to the root teacher, the Buddha himself.
During these afternoon sessions, the young generation of teachers, yangsis, and tulkus performed the wangdrim, bestowing the empowerment articles to each person in the assembled sangha.
The final session of the day concluded with the recitation of prayers and aspirations, and with each passing day, the sense of unity and harmony deepened, as hundreds of voices merged into a single, melodious chant.
Such a calm and settled environment for the transmissions was sustained by the selfless service of many. The monks of Mindrolling began their work at dawn and continued throughout the day, with quiet elegance serving the tea and refreshments to the gathered monastic and lay sangha.
To allow the assembled sangha to participate in the transmissions free of concern for daily sustenance, three nutritious meals were offered each day to more than three thousands attendees.
At the end of each day, the team of jedrang monks, Samten Tse nuns, and volunteers from the Mindrolling International sangha, thoroughly cleaned the space of the stupa shrine room and transmission tent, replenishing flower offerings and ensuring an uplifted, respectful, and beautiful environment.
Thus, through these and many other countless unseen acts of devotion and generosity, the collective task of sustaining the container for the transmissions was carried out unfailingly throughout their entire duration.
The Future of Mindrolling – Minling Dungse Rinpoche and Minling Jetsün Rinpoche
Throughout the transmissions the gathered assembly, especially the sangha of Mindrolling, rejoiced watching Minling Dungse Rinpoche and Minling Jetsün Rinpoche receive the full and complete Kama transmissions while maintaining pure intention, discipline, and samaya. These future teachers and leaders of the sangha displayed excellent conduct and the rare and precious qualities of future lineage holders and teachers who will safeguard the purest lineage of Dharma for future generations. Their elegance, poise, and humility in receiving the empowerments, bestowing the wangdrim, making offerings provided a perfect example for the gathered assembly. Knowing that the future of Dharma is in the hands of these two authentic and well-trained practitioners, brought about ease and confidence to the hearts and minds of the gathered devoted students.
Young Generations
Such a vast undertaking as the Kama Transmissions at its core is an expression of deep care and the responsibility for the continuity of the authentic Dharma for the generations to come. For that reason, a new generation of teachers, yangsis, and tulkus from various monasteries attended the transmissions to receive and uphold the living lineage of the Nyingma Kama. Day by day, the young generation of future teachers not only received the transmissions, but also grew to become good friends to one another.
As the transmissions reached the section of the higher tantras, the young tulkus auspiciously bestowed the wangdrim all together. In a moment of historical significance, Minling Jetsün Rinpoche also joined the bestowal of the wangdrim, which was a most auspicious occasion, as in the history of the Dharma the Minling Jetsünmas have played a pivotal role in the preservation, protection, and continuation of the teachings.
Celebrating the Birthday of Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche
On the 25th of December, the birthday of Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche was joyfully celebrated by the gathered rinpoches, monks, and nuns and the lay sangha. In the shrine room a grand birthday cake was brought forth. Following the prayers and supplications, vast offerings of mandala and tensum were made several times. The offering by Mindrolling Monastery was made by the young rinpoches and Mindrolling masters. This was followed by Shechen Monastery, who supplicated for Kyabje Rinpoche’s long life with mandala offering and tensum.
As a tendrel for long life, an elderly white-haired man offered khatag to Kyabje Rinpoche. Thereafter, the Mindrolling International sangha joyfully offered a Western happy birthday song. Each offering was accompanied with offering of khatags and flowers to the presiding master. Phubzam, a remarkable singer from Bhutan supplicated for Kyabje Rinpoche’s long life in a deeply moving performance. This followed with a remarkable prayer of praise by Ngagpa (Golok Dhabe) together with his consort.
Throughout the day, the entire sangha wholeheartedly prayed for Rinpoche’s long life and joyfully celebrated his birthday.
Vast Tshog Offerings

With loving kindness and care, Kyabje Rinpoche personally blessed each of the devoted elders gathered in the stupa shrine room on the 31st of December.
Symposia
In order to support understanding and recognition of the immense value of these extraordinary empowerments and oral transmissions, accomplished masters and scholars held Symposia, in the evenings on the 11th of December, and on the 3rd and 4th of January respectiviely. During these symposiums the history and significance of the Kama Transmissions were explored and discussed, making the subject accessible to the gathered Rinpoches, tulkus, monastics, and ngagkpas.
Completion of the Transmissions and Diamond Jubilee
The days of transmissions were unfolding in the settled rhythm and pace, and thus, in forty days, Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche in his immeasurable kindness and compassion bestowed transmissions of wang and lung for the entire 21 volumes of the Root Dharma Sections of Nyingma Kama along with the supplementary texts for Kama. These included supplementary treatises on the commentaries upon the intent, general summaries, commentarial exegeses, and pith instructions of the tantras as elucidated by many accomplished scholars and adepts from both India and Tibet.
On the 6th of January, 2026, the Mindrolling Sangha joyfully celebrated the successful completion of the empowerments and oral transmissions of the precious and profound Nyingma Kama and marked the occasion of the completion of the sixtieth anniversary of the founding of the Glorious Ogmin Ogyen Mindrolling Monastery in the Noble Land of India.
In the morning heartfelt gratitude was expressed to all those who made the transmissions possible, acknowledging the contribution of every individual – from the principal Mindrolling Administrators and Kama Organizers, to the teams of monks, nuns, and Western sangha, as well as all the staff members working hard in the kitchen, security, housekeeping, gardening, together with electricians, plumbers and carpenters. Special appreciation was also extended to the audio-visual team, whose dedicated efforts enabled the connection of spaces within the monastery and made several sessions accessible online to the worldwide sangha.
In the evening, the celebrations continued with a festive dinner, followed by traditional Tibetan cultural performances by the renowned Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA). This was a joyful occasion and celebration for all who gathered to watch.
On the 7th of January 2026, following the completion of the transmissions, Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche bestowed the precious long-life empowerment of Amitayus in the Kama tradition (Lung Lug Tsepagmed) to the sangha. During the wangdrim, Kyabje Rinpoche personally blessed each and every individual in the gathering.

At the conclusion of the sacred Kama transmissions at Mindrolling Monastery, a traditional tenzhug, a long-life offering ceremony, was respectfully and joyfully offered for the long life of Kyabje ShechenRabjam Rinpoche with immense gratitude and heartfelt supplications for Rinpoche’s long life and vast Dharma activities. Minling Dungse Rinpoche presided over the tenzhug performing the sacred ritual of making extensive offerings of symbolic representations of longevity and formal verses of supplication. The ceremony culminated with the vast mandala offering led by Minling Jetsün Rinpoche, followed by the great assembly of Mindrolling sangha who presented sacred offerings of body, speech, and mind representations, along with an abundant variety of exquisite offerings.
The monastic community and lay practitioners all assembled at the Great Stupa for this auspicious ceremony with deep and fervent supplications and aspirations for Kyabje Rabjam Rinpoche’s long life, excellent health, and the continued preservation and flourishing of the authentic lineage of the Buddha Dharma.
