Personal Retreats

Lotus Garden offers year-round opportunities for personal solitary or session retreats.

Session retreats offer the opportunity for practitioners to do intensive personal practice within the milieu of community life.  A session retreat generally consists of three or four personal practice sessions per day. The retreatant may also participate in the community morning and evening prayers, and will share meals with the sangha.  Retreatants may practice in one of the Lotus Garden shrine rooms so an individual shrine is not necessary.  Meditation instruction is available as needed.

Solitary retreats offer an opportunity for practitioners to pursue their practices in solitude, with as little distraction as possible. A solitary retreat traditionally consists of either four or six practice sessions per day. Solitary retreatants will be responsible for bringing their own shrine materials, and setting up their own shrines. Currently, all meals will be served to retreatants in their rooms.

All retreatants at Lotus Garden will have the support of our drupön, the retreat master. The drupön is an individual with extensive retreat experience who has been appointed by Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche to guide retreatants during their retreats. Currently, we are fortunate to have Lama Roar Vestre as our resident drupön.

We have 9 private rooms available for retreats, with shared bath, available for $50 per night. This includes 3 simple meals along with coffee and tea service. Meals are delivered to those on solitary retreat. Those on session retreat will join the Lotus Garden resident staff for meals and will be asked to participate in a simple work assignment each day.
