Entering the Mahayana is a yearly program designed for newer students, and particularly for those who are may not have previously attended an Annual Retreat with Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche. During this program, Rinpoche generally bestows teachings on the fundamental topics of the buddhadharma.
This year, Rinpoche will be bestowing teachings from the Ngedön Gyatso, The Ocean of Certainty, a text written by the 9th Karmapa, Wangchug Dorje. The Ngedön Gyatso contains teachings on the view & practice of mahamudra, a swift path for the realization of absolute truth. These teachings are full of profound, clear and practical instructions on shamatha (calm-abiding) & vipasyana (insight) meditation. These instructions can be put into practice by any level of student, allowing each one of us to work with our own minds in order to understand & completely overcome the causes of our own and others’ suffering.
The Ngedön Gyatso is widely used to teach meditation within the Karma Kagyu mahamudra tradition. Containing some of the most detailed and direct oral instructions on mahamudra shamatha & vipasyana meditation ever put into writing, it serves as a step-by-step personal guide to the mahamudra tradition.
Mindrolling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche, who is known for her compassion, clarity, and depth of teaching, is a holder of both the Nyingma and the Karma Kagyu lineages. Lotus Garden is very fortunate that she will be bestowing these precious teachings during the Entering the Mahayana program this year.
Tuition for this program will be $225. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us by email at registration@lotusgardens.org, or by phone at 540-778-2405.
