Nestled in the Shenandoah Valley, Lotus Garden is a beautiful and serene place with mountain ranges surrounding it, providing a lovely tenting experience. You may bring your own tent for personal tenting or there is also a limited number of spaces available in larger tents available for rent during programs.
If you are planning on using your own tent, you must bring all your own equipment — tent, tarps, rope, stakes, air mattresses, bedding, etc. It can be very cool in the evenings, even with warm daytime temperatures, so please plan accordingly.
The rental tents provided during Lotus Garden programs are 14x10 ft. canvas structures, shared by two people. The tents are equipped with beds, however, you must bring your own towels, linens, and sleeping bag.
Shared rooms and dormitory spaces are available but limited during the larger programs. There are both men and women's dorms. Restroom and shower facilities are available and some showers are handicapped accessible. Priority for dormitory spaces is given to those who, for physical reasons, cannot tent. Towels and linens are available for those in shared rooms, however we do ask that those staying in dormitories please bring their own towels, linens and sleeping bag.
Lotus Garden is located near two small towns. The closest and smaller one is Stanley (about a 5 minute drive) and the larger one, Luray, is about 15 minutes away by car.
We encourage program participants to stay on the land whenever possible, but due to limited accommodations at Lotus Garden this is not always possible during the larger programs. However, there are other nearby accommodations. The months of June through October are tourist season in this area, so booking rooms in advance is advisable.
Below is a listing of some establishments which program participants have liked and return to year after year. Please visit the Luray-Page County Visitor Center website for a current listing of more than 150 additional accommodations.
