An amazing thing has taken place here at Lotus Garden! In early November, Her Eminence Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche requested that 108 new trees be donated by the sangha and planted on the land to enhance the environment, provide shade for practitioners and food and shelter for wildlife. In just a little more than three busy weeks, over 80 trees have been donated and dedicated from all over the US and as far away as India, Greece and Denmark. We'd like to share some photos of the tree project with everyone.

What's next for our trees? The Karma team members are currently tamping down the earth at the base of each tree to ensure that the soil is snug around the roots. The trees will then be neatly mulched by the Karma team and residents. Throughout the next year they will be carefully monitored as they adjust to life at Lotus Garden and endure the summer which can be hot and dry. Trees within different areas of Lotus Garden are being numbered and matched with their donors. A map (both online and on paper) is being drawn up, which will allow donors and those honored to locate their trees and visit them when they come to Lotus Garden.
