Before offering final thanks to Kyabje Dodrubchen Rinpoche and receiving his blessings one last time, they visited Pema Yangtse in West Sikkim. Almost 125 Mindrolling monks who had also traveled to Gangtok for the Nyingthig Yabzhi empowerments joined them.

Pema Yangtse is of great importance to Mindrolling because Jetsün Migyur Paldrön, the daughter of Chögyal Terdag Lingpa and one of Tibet’s most extraordinary and realized masters, bestowed many teachings in this area while exiled from Tibet during the Mongol invasion of 1718 CE.

The monks and sangha of Pema Yangtse greeted Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche and Jetsün Dechen Paldrön enthusiastically, and local school children and lay people offered songs and khatags. Jestun Khandro Rinpoche briefly addressed the gathering and encouraged the people to practice the precious Dharma. The visit also included a tour of the entire three-story lhakhang. Fascinating murals illustrating deities, protectors and significant events in the history of Tibetan Buddhism cover almost every wall. The third floor houses a breathtaking multi-tiered, three-dimensional representation of the palace of Guru Rinpoche and many artifacts from Guru Rinpoche’s time.

It was particularly inspiring to pay respects and offer prayers at the remains of the throne from which Jetsün Migyur Paldrön bestowed her many teachings, empowerments and blessings.
