Expansion Projects
Additional Projects
There are other efforts being made to beautify the land and improve Lotus Garden’s facilities to better serve teachers, retreatants and participants. Some of these projects include transforming the old tool shed into a kitchen annex, installing a new floor in Shedrub Gatsal and the Yurt and gardening and landscaping.
- Kitchen and Kitchen Annex
- The former tool shed by Dekyi Gatsal has been cleared out and is now a kitchen prep, dish washing and coffee and tea service area. This well-ventilated, open area provides protection from the elements and is a welcome addition to food service preparation and clean up.

- Yurt
- The yurt, which previously was home to Ratna Kosha was moved to a new location behind Dekyi Gatsal. It is now being used as dormitory space during programs. This spring a floor was installed and new furniture and accessories were provided.

- Gardens and Landscaping
- To enhance the landscape at Lotus Garden, large containers with colorful plants have been placed near Kunzang Gatsal, Rigzin Gatsal, Lhawang Gatsal and the entrance to Dekyi Gatsal. New decorative flowers and ground cover have been planted near Shedrub Gatsal and the directional sign leading into Lotus Garden. Kitchen gardens that will be home to vegetables, herbs, and flowers for cutting, are being reorganized and planted near Ratna Kosha and behind the main residence.
