About the Center

In 1994, the Baltimore Shambhala Center first hosted Her Eminence Mindrolling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche for a single day of teachings. What began as a single day of teachings to a group of 20 students eventually led to the founding of Mindrolling Lotus Garden in 2003. Currently, sangha members from around the globe come to Lotus Garden to receive teachings from Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche, to undertake personal retreats and to study Tibetan Buddhism.

Lotus Garden was established by Her Eminence Mindrolling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche primarily as a group and individual retreat and study center. The programs that are offered at Lotus Garden include the Annual Retreat, the Shedra, the Fall Solitary Retreat, and Winter Practice and Study intensives. During the remainder of the year, there is a full schedule of programs led by the lopöns and drupön under the guidance of Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche.

Each year, Rinpoche resides at Lotus Garden during the Annual Retreat, the Shedra and at other times of the year when Rinpoche's schedule permits. See Rinpoche's teaching schedule for other international programs.
